FDJ Stoner metal from Ireland that very much mixes the old school and new school styles of metal then adds  a bit of celtic flair too round it off.Highly enjoyable. Like Metallica meets Sabbath on the way to a Thin Lizzy      gig!!Favorite track: Surrender of the Damned.

Bandcamp Review  (Sept 2013) -  "Castero are a 4 piece Heavy Rock band from Ireland, New album Revolutions released in June 2013. We have toured with bands such as Diamond Head, O/D Saxon and loads more. We are strongly influenced by bands such as Black Sabbath, Black Label Society, Down and Clutch."

The above 3 bands mentioned are huge influences on the doom/stoner community. I honesty cringe at times when I see that due to the fact that more times than none, bands more or less copy them. When I started to listen to Revolutions though, I could hear the influences but the band sets out to do their own thing and not be a copycat. Revolutions has a nice southern metal sound mixed with classic rock, a bit of the fuzzy/wah wah sound in Clutch, and the right tuning to make their guitars sing. "Too Much Sleep" has a killer solo at the end. Overall this is grade A material here.

Updates on the band, upcoming shows and new material.......

Castero have been on a brief hiatus from shows for a good few months now but  we are still working on new material for upcoming gigs.

The hiatus: Johnny had a back injury which stopped him from playing guitar and singing for a time, the band are now back working on new tracks, Johnny is back on vocals but not back on guitar until further down the line, hopefully not too much longer.

New Material: The bands new material focuses on heavy riff based stuff with different directions taken, lots of melody added both musically and vocally as we have had lots of time to improve on each track, the songs are inspired by our heroes and anti-heroes, a few of the tracks are just getting the finishing touches in the jam room over the next month or two and will be unleashed along with some old favourites in the set list at upcoming shows.

Upcoming events: As stated above we have been out of action since late last year on the live gig circuit but a few shows are in the pipeline over the summer starting with "Philfest PhilFest.Ireland" In Leitrim between June 27 - 29. This is a large scale festival with over 140 bands and performers and it looks to be a special event, we cant wait to play at this...there will also be a show maybe before Philfest and a couple of shows after, we will post these as they get confirmed on our facebook page, website Castero - Home etc.

So to conclude, Castero will be back with a louder bang come the summer with new tracks and eager to get back into the swing of playing Live.......!!!
